Wind chimes have been used since ancient times by Buddhist and have become much more popular in recent years. There are many types and styles. Most of us are familiar with the traditional metal tube variety which play exquisitely harmonized chords. There are also bamboo pipe chimes that resonate with mellow notes or seashells that chatter in the breeze. Ceramic and polished stones carry pleasing pitches while glass wind chimes whisper a melodic tune. Wind chimes made from pure silverware picked up from a secondhand shop (i.e., spoons, forks, knives) create a set of wind chimes which make for a merry melody and another " unique" style.
One may ask, what makes a set of windchimes unique? Consider having them engraved with a personal message for oneself or for a gift. Adding a scripture verse or a family name can make yours more meaningful. You can rest assured that none of your friends will have the same set since the message was written by you with a special meaning, therefore creating a unique set.
Several types of stained glass chimes can add beautiful color and unique flair to any home decor. These bits of colored glass reflect light and can be designed into unusual patterns such as a Dragonfly or Dinosaur integrated to make your chime very interesting.
Windchimes created around different themes help to make them "unique". There are unique animal wind chimes. Combining different kinds of animals, such as cats and mice on a set of windchimes, provide an interesting and unique style. Some people may choose to have wind chimes created with just their special breed of pet. There are unique wind chimes made just for the holidays. Thanksgiving turkeys and flags for the Forth of July as well as Santa Clauses, Halloween jack-o-lanterns and Valentine's hearts are used.
There are chimes to suit just about everyone's style. One in particular comes to us from China. It's called the Feng Shui chime. These particular chimes date back thousands of years. It is their belief that the chimes spread luck throughout the household because they send good vibes. Along with bringing luck, they in the same turn get rid of all the negativity that might be filtrating through the house. Each of these unique chimes has an element of red in it which means luck and happiness in Chinese.
